Pro-democracy activitists in Taiwan called on China to stop human rights abuse



On 7th August, the day before the 2008 Olympic opening, about 100 human rights activists, Tibet and Burma supporters gathered together to express their concern over the lack of improvements in China’s human rights record and to urge China to fulfil its Olympic promises. Freddy Lim, Lead vocalist of the Taiwanese band ‘Chthonic’ and a long-time supporter of human rights and democracy movements, said “I’m not asking too much of you [China], because improving human rights is a promise that you made when you applied to host the Olympics.
